(It's okay to laugh at this header image. I panicked and spent 5 minutes making it is MS Paint to replace the other image I was planning on using which surprisingly, is much worse.)
♪ It’s the most wonderful time of the year! ♪
The leaves are changing colours, the warm summer air is becoming cool and crisp, there are hay rides with warm apple cider to be had and spooky haunted houses to walk through, and most importantly: October is the month that contains Halloween!
To many, Halloween and the excitement traces back to our childhoods, where we used to dress up as something spooky, watch all of our favourite Halloween TV specials and perhaps most notably get free candy! For a kid, what better holiday is there? For myself, the enjoyment didn’t stop at childhood; it continued on well into adulthood and still continues on today. I like to still follow through with all of the Halloween traditions that I enjoyed when I was younger.
Today, I am bringing one of my most favourite Halloween traditions to the next level and I’m inviting you, the readers, to take part in the festivities! This year I am hosting a Pumpkin-Carving Contest that I want all of you to take part in. Whether it be a pumpkin carved this year or from All Hallows Eves past, I want to see them all!
You all have until November 1st to enter and yes, the winner will get a prize, hand-picked from the Great Pumpkin himself! Make sure to get your submissions in by e-mailing me at email@example.com, tweeting them to me at @ChannyDreadful or @DreadfulReviews, DMing me on instagram at @channydreadful, or posting them to our Facebook page!
All pictures submitted (with your permission, of course) will be shared during my Halloween Hangover article, so if you want to get any self-promotion done please include that information alongside your photos!
What’s this Halloween Hangover article, you ask? Well, for the most part, it’s going to be a surprise. However, aside from your pumpkin-carving pictures I do have one more favour to ask of you. Send me pictures of yourself all dressed up in your spookiest, silliest or craziest Halloween costume (bonus points if it’s a group photo, but make sure you get all participant’s permission first!) to be included in the ‘Best Halloween Costumes of 2016’ segment of the Halloween Hangover article. No contest -- I just want to see everyone’s creativity (or lack thereof) and share them with the rest of you ghosts and ghouls!
Throughout the month of Octoberween there will be TONS of guest-appearances from a wide variety of strangers all coming together for their love of one specific topic… HORROR! You will get the opportunity to meet a variety of podcasters, paranormal investigators, authors, bloggers, horror hosts, cat-lovers, and much more! Please make sure to comment and share the love for all those involved. I can personally verify that every one of them has put in countless hours slaving over their laptops and typewriters while I come at ‘em with a pitchfork and devil horns, threatening unsavoury threats of terror. For myself, it’s been a pleasure to work with such an amazing and talented group of people, so I know you all are in for more of a treat, and less of a trick.
Last, but not least, stay safe this Halloween in whatever you do, and don’t forget to keep it creepy!
