Hello, and welcome to Channy Dreadful’s Dreadful Reviews! If you are reading this right now, you can see that my website has officially launched (yay!) -- all thanks to some hard work from web designer Kenton de Jong, the man who brought my idea to life. Thank you for being here to join myself, and many others – such as Bloody Brodie from the podcast Blind Buy: A Bargain Bin Adventure, Charles Scott who will be discussing the horrors of true crime and the websites assistant editor, as well as our main editor Mr. Universe (Jordan Rolufs) from Whedonverse Podcast. This website would not be here today without the help of my friends, and everyone who has done nothing but give me continuous support along the way. Thank you! Now let’s get started. For those of you who don’t know me, I’ll answer a few commonly-asked questions, as well as introduce myself a little bit before posting my first review.
What is Dreadful Reviews?
This is a place where you can find horror news and reviews focusing on all of the different sub-genres of horror – everything from exploitation films to new releases. You can also expect me (and many other guest bloggers) to review comic books, video games, TV shows, short stories, table-top games, literature, graphic novels – really anything that catches our interest. Keep in mind that Dreadful Reviews isn’t just reviews (despite the name) but we will also be occasionally releasing several short stories and essays along the way, so keep your eyes peeled for those as well.
Who is Channy Dreadful?
Hi! I’m Chantel, also known as Channy Dreadful, and I am one creepy ghoul hailing from a small city in Saskatchewan, Canada. I am a semi-regular podcast voice, frequenting several podcasts -- with the first being Dead as Hell Horror Podcast, and as well on the likes of The Resurrection of Zombie 7, Land of the Creeps andWhedonverse Podcast. For the last three years, I have brought my focus towards written reviews, posting occasionally on my not-so-professional Tumblr blog and recently moving to my new website dreadfulreviews.com — where you have found yourself today!
When and how did this all get started?
Dreadful Reviews got its start on Tumblr in 2013 shortly after I began podcasting, when I decided to start cleaning up my show-notes and posting them for fans to read. With less time to podcast as frequently, I found myself drawn to the idea of writing reviews and creating a website where not only could I discuss and review horror, but a place where the friends I have made on my journey (new and old) are able to talk and discuss all things horror.
If you have any suggestions for anything you would like me to review, as well as any movie recommendations or ideas for content you would like to see on the website, head to the Contact Us section and feel free to reach out to me. I’m always interested in expanding and adding new content!
Also, don't forget to cast your vote in the polls on the side. There will be new polls every month and I will announce the results of the previous polls once the change is made, so stay tuned. Keep it creepy, boys and ghouls!
